Product Description

12kg Payload 2010mm Long Reach Arc Welding Robot Arm for Flexible Welding

This 12kg payload 2010mm long reach arc welding robot arm is the extended version of the KR 12 arc HW platform, built for large weldments that a compact arm cannot cover. A 2010 mm maximum reach with a 12 kg rated payload and 0.04 mm pose repeatability lets the torch follow a chassis rail, a tank shell or a structural beam from one base position, without indexing the workpiece between passes.

The hollow wrist design feeds torch, wire conduit and shielding gas through the arm to the wrist centre, which keeps the cable package out of the way on long reaches and allows the wrist to be sealed to IP67. The arm body is IP54 rated against spatter and grinding dust, and the 221 kg structure on a 420 by 363 mm footprint stays rigid with a long torch and a heavy anti-spatter package fitted.

Axis speeds of 220, 210 and 220 degrees per second on the first three axes and 435, 435 and 700 degrees per second on the wrist are tuned for a 221 kg arm carrying a long torch, giving stable weave and travel rather than snap motion. Floor, wall, ceiling and inclined mounting are all supported, so the arm can hang over a fixture from a gantry and leave the working aisle clear in a heavy fabrication shop.

In heavy fabrication this arc welding robot arm usually works from a gantry or a heavy floor plate beside a head and tail stock positioner, and the 2010 mm reach allows multi-pass welds along a full chassis rail without re-clamping. The hollow wrist keeps the torch cable clear of the workpiece across that travel, so the arc welding robot arm can weld close to the plume without cable damage. When part lengths change, the arc welding robot arm is re-taught from the pendant rather than re-fixtured.

Advantages of This Arc Welding Robot Arm

  • 2010mm reach: covers long weldments such as chassis rails, beams and tank shells without an extra track or positioner index.
  • 12kg payload at long reach: carries a water-cooled torch, wire feeder, collision sensor and air blast while holding stiffness at full extension.
  • Hollow wrist torch routing: torch, wire and gas lines run inside the arm, reducing cable wear on the long travel path.
  • IP67 wrist, IP54 arm: sealed against spatter, coolant and grinding dust in heavy welding environments.
  • 0.04mm pose repeatability: keeps a long torch on the seam, protecting penetration and bead profile on thick sections.
  • Tuned axis dynamics: 220 and 210 degrees per second on the main axes resist the inertia of a long torch package.
  • 221kg rigid structure: a heavy cast base keeps vibration low when welding at full reach.
  • All mounting positions: inverted or ceiling mounted arms clear the floor in fabrication and fixture shops.

Applications

  • Heavy fabrication of chassis rails, beams and structural frames
  • Tank, silo and pressure vessel shell welding
  • Trailer, agricultural and construction equipment frames
  • Long weldments requiring a single setup without repositioning
  • Gantry and ceiling mounted welding over large fixtures
  • Multi-pass GMAW on thick plate with weave patterns
  • Repair and rework welding of large fabricated assemblies
  • Job shop welding where part length changes frequently

FAQ

Q: Why choose the 2010mm version over the 1442mm arc welding robot arm?

A: Reach. The 2010 mm arc welding robot arm keeps one base position for parts that would need two fixture indexes with the 1442 mm model, which matters for chassis rails, beams and tank shells. It also gives more clearance around positioners, so the torch does not run out of wrist travel at the end of a long seam.

Q: Does the longer reach reduce payload capability?

A: Rated payload stays at 12 kg, but the maximum payload is 12.9 kg rather than 21.1 kg because a long arm has less margin at extreme centre of mass offsets. Torch packages should be checked with KUKA.Load before ordering.

Q: How does the hollow wrist help on long seams?

A: The torch, wire conduit and gas hose pass through the wrist centre instead of looping outside it, so the cable package does not pull on the torch as the arm extends. Cable life improves and the wrist can be sealed to IP67.

Q: What is the protection rating and why does it matter?

A: IP54 on the arm body and IP67 at the wrist, to IEC 60529. In heavy fabrication, spatter, coolant mist and grinding dust reach the wrist first, so the IP67 rating protects the joint that is hardest to service.

Q: Which controller runs the arm?

A: The KR C5 S6 or S7 cabinet, or the KR C5 slim-2 S6 for tighter floor space. Seam tracking, touch sensing, weave and fieldbus options are integrated through KUKA ready-to-use software packages.

Q: Can the arm be mounted overhead in a fabrication shop?

A: Yes. Floor, wall, ceiling and inclined mounting are all supported. Overhead mounting is common in heavy fabrication because it frees the aisle and shortens the approach to large fixtures.

Q: Can this arc welding robot arm handle multi-pass work on thick plate?

A: Yes. Weave patterns, pass offsets and interpass temperature logic are configured in the KUKA welding package, and the 2010 mm reach lets the arc welding robot arm complete several passes along a long seam before the positioner turns the workpiece.

Q: What are the ordering and delivery details?

A: Minimum order one piece, stock units ship in 3 working days and configured welding cells in 15 to 25 days. FOB or CIF terms, factory calibration report, NRTL, CE and CR documentation, 12 month warranty with remote technical support.

Q: How do I request a quotation?

A: Send your weldment drawing, seam length, wire and gas details, positioner layout and plant voltage. Our engineers confirm reach and payload margin, propose torch, seam tracking and safety packages, and return a price, lead time and cell layout drawing for this 2010 mm reach arc welding robot arm.
