This 12kg payload 1442mm reach arc welding robot arm is a six-axis machine built around a hollow wrist developed specifically for gas metal arc welding. The 1442 mm maximum reach, 12 kg rated payload and 0.04 mm pose repeatability let a single arm cover a welding fixture, a positioner station and a touch-up bench from one floor plate.
The HW version routes the torch, wire feed hose and shielding gas line through the arm and out through the wrist, so the cable package no longer swings at the end of the torch. That internal routing is also why the wrist carries IP67 protection while the arm body is rated IP54 against spatter, metal dust and grinding residue in a production welding cell.
Axis speeds of 260, 240 and 260 degrees per second on axes one to three, and 430, 480 and 720 degrees per second on the wrist, keep the torch in the seam while a positioner rotates the workpiece. The arm weighs about 201 kg on a 420 by 363 mm footprint, so it mounts on a standard welding frame without a special foundation, and it can be installed on the floor, wall, ceiling or at an inclined angle for gantry integration.
In a production cell this arc welding robot arm is normally paired with a servo positioner, a torch cleaning station and fume extraction, and the 1442 mm reach serves all three from one base position. Because the hollow wrist keeps the torch cable inside the arm, the arc welding robot arm reaches into box sections and corners where an external cable package would rub against the workpiece. The same hollow wrist shortens torch changeover, and the arc welding robot arm can be re-taught for a new weldment within a single shift.

A: The hollow wrist lets the torch, wire conduit and gas hose pass through the centre of the wrist instead of hanging outside it. Cable flexing is reduced, the torch reaches into box sections and corners more freely, and the wrist can be sealed to IP67 because there is no external cable opening.
A: Yes for most GMAW packages. A water-cooled torch with collision sensor, air blast and wire feeder connection typically weighs 6 to 9 kg, leaving margin for the rated 12 kg. The maximum payload of 21.1 kg applies only at zero centre of mass offset and must be verified with KUKA.Load.
A: Pose repeatability follows ISO 9283 and is verified at the factory. In a welding cell it means the torch tip returns to the taught seam position within 0.04 mm, which keeps penetration depth and bead width consistent between cycles.
A: IP54 for the arm body and IP67 for the wrist, rated to IEC 60529. The wrist rating is the part that matters in welding service because it faces spatter, coolant mist and metal dust directly.
A: The KR C5 S6 or S7 controller, or the compact KR C5 slim-2 S6. KUKA ready-to-use packages cover seam tracking, touch sensing, weave patterns and fieldbus connection, and offline programs can be prepared outside the cell.
A: On a floor plate, a welding table frame, a wall bracket, a ceiling frame or at an inclined angle. The 420 by 363 mm footprint and 201 kg weight are normally handled by a standard fabricated steel base without a concrete foundation.
A: Yes. With the correct synergic power source program and torch consumables, the arc welding robot arm handles steel, stainless steel and aluminium. The hollow wrist helps on aluminium because the wire conduit stays short and straight, which reduces wire feed friction and bird nesting.
A: Minimum order one piece, stock units in 3 working days and configured welding cells in 15 to 25 days. FOB or CIF terms, calibration report, NRTL, CE and CR documentation, plus 12 months of parts and technical support.
A: Send your weldment drawing, seam length, wire and gas details, positioner layout and plant voltage. Our engineers confirm reach and payload margin, propose torch, seam tracking and safety packages, and return a price, lead time and cell layout drawing for this 1442 mm reach arc welding robot arm.
