Product Description

886mm Reach 5kg Payload IP54 Sealed Collaborative Robot Arm for CNC Machine Tending

This 886mm reach 5kg payload collaborative robot arm closes the gap between bench-top cobots and full industrial arms. With an 886.5 mm working radius, a 5 kg rated payload and a 23.3 kg body, it bolts onto a machine base plate, a pedestal or a mobile tending cart and still reaches through the door of a CNC lathe, a machining centre or an injection moulding machine.

The IP54 sealed structure protects joints and cabling from coolant mist, chips and cutting fluid, which is exactly the environment a machine tending cell creates. Repeatability of 0.02 mm and a 3.4 m/s tool speed let the arm load blanks into a chuck, unload finished parts and place them on a conveyor inside the machine cycle time, without an operator standing at the door.

Deployment stays simple because the collaborative robot arm accepts any mounting angle and runs from the same AUBO-CB-iS cabinet used across the series. Drag teaching records a new tending path directly by hand, the open SDK covers C, C++, C#, Lua, Python and JavaScript on Windows and Linux plus ROS and ROS2, and the digital I/O at the flange triggers grippers, air chucks and blow-off valves without extra cabinets.

Advantages

  • 886.5mm reach for machine access: the arm reaches through guards and doors that stop a 625 mm class cobot, removing the need for a linear track in most tending cells.
  • Optional IP54 sealing throughout: joints and cable runs tolerate coolant mist, metal chips and cutting fluid on continuous shifts.
  • 5kg payload at 3.4 m/s: covers typical shaft, housing and bracket weights while keeping the loading cycle short.
  • 0.02mm repeatability: consistent chuck and fixture engagement keeps scrap low on tight-tolerance machining work.
  • Any-angle mounting: pedestal, wall or inverted mounting clears floor space around the machine.
  • Drag teaching and open SDK: a new part number is taught by hand in minutes, and the same program can be scripted through the SDK for repeat orders.
  • Fenceless safety concept: ISO 13849 PL d Cat. 3 certification allows operators to load parts beside the running arm.
  • Series commonality: shared controller, teach pendant and IO layout mean one spare kit covers the whole i-Series fleet.

Applications

  • CNC lathe and machining centre tending: chuck loading and finished part removal
  • Injection moulding machine tending: insert placement and sprue removal
  • Press and stamping line loading with quick change grippers
  • Grinding, deburring and edge finishing of machined parts
  • Shaft, housing and bracket pick and place between conveyors
  • Automotive parts machining cells with coolant exposure
  • Hardware and appliance component handling on multi-machine islands
  • Quality gauging and dimensional inspection after machining

FAQ

Q: Does this 5kg payload collaborative robot arm reach through a machine door?

A: Yes. The 886.5 mm working radius is measured at the tool flange, so with a standard gripper the arm still enters a CNC door, places a blank in the chuck and withdraws inside a typical cycle of 30 to 45 seconds.

Q: What does IP54 sealing mean for machine tending?

A: IP54 on the arm blocks dust ingress and splash from any direction, so coolant mist, chips and cutting fluid do not reach the joint motors or the internal cable route. The control cabinet is rated IP43 and is normally mounted outside the splash zone.

Q: How is the 0.02mm repeatability maintained over a shift?

A: Repeatability is verified by laser tracker at the factory and re-checked at commissioning after the arm is bolted to your machine. Thermal drift is compensated by the controller, so the chuck engagement point stays within 0.02 mm on a production shift.

Q: How does the arm communicate with the machine tool?

A: Through digital I/O and Ethernet or ModBus-TCP, with Profinet and EtherNet/IP available as options, so the arm can handshake with the machine door, chuck clamp and cycle start signals.

Q: Which grippers are supported for tending work?

A: The flange supplies 4 configurable digital outputs, 2 analogue inputs, optional RS485 and 0/12/24 V at up to 3 A, covering pneumatic two-jaw grippers, air chucks, magnetic grippers, vacuum units and force sensors.

Q: What are the ordering and delivery details?

A: Minimum order is one piece, stock ships within 3 working days and configured cells with grippers and pedestals take 15 to 25 days. Payment terms are T/T, L/C or Western Union, and export packing includes the controller, teach pendant and calibration report.

Q: How do I request a quotation?

A: Send your part weight, cycle requirement, fixture layout and plant voltage. Our engineers confirm the payload and centre of gravity margin, propose the end effector and mounting arrangement, and return a price, lead time and integration drawing for this 5 kg collaborative robot arm.
