Agricultural machinery welding is a different animal from automotive work. Frames, booms and brackets are large, plate is thick, joints run for a metre or more, and the tack welds holding everything together pull the assembly out of square as the heat goes in. Positioner after positioner is needed just to get the torch to the far end of the part. An extended-arm welding robot removes most of that re-positioning: the working envelope carries the torch from one end of a chassis rail to the other without stopping the arc, while a rigid wrist holds a water-cooled torch at the push and pull angles multi-pass work needs. Internally routed torch and wire keep spatter off the dress package, and a sealed wrist survives a shop floor covered in grinding dust and fume.
- Long seams in one pass sequence: the extended envelope follows the full length of a frame rail or boom without stopping for repositioning.
- Fewer fixture changes: one cell covers chassis, brackets and implement parts that would otherwise need separate stations.
- Stable multi-pass stacking: repeatable torch angle and travel keep cap height and leg length uniform, cutting grinding and rework.
- Stiff wrist under heavy torch tooling: water-cooled torches, collision sensors and seam tracking hardware run without deflection.
- Spatter-tolerant dress: internally routed torch conduit protects the cable package in a heavy fabrication bay.
- Predictable throughput on mixed batches: program recall and quick fixture changeover make short production runs economical.
- Healthier bay: the robot absorbs the heat and fume while operators handle fit-up and inspection.
- Open fieldbus options: EtherCAT, DeviceNet and PROFINET link the controller to welding power sources, positioners, PLCs and safety logic without custom gateways.
- Welding control built in: arc start and end sequencing, touch sensing, arc sensing, weaving and multi-layer weld files run inside the controller.
- Positioner and track ready: coordinated external axes allow headstocks, turntables and travel tracks to work inside the same motion program.
- One programming environment: integrators already running FANUC cells reuse the same teach pendant workflow, weld screens and safety routines.
- Offline cell design: ROBOGUIDE allows layout, reach studies and program proving before the robot arrives on site.
- Spares commonality: shared FANUC mechanical and controller parts plus a global service network keep mean time to repair short.
