Structural steel work is unforgiving. Beams arrive with mill scale, tac welds and fit-up gaps that shift along the length of the joint; the arc throws spatter into every exposed cable; and heat pulls the section as the pass count climbs. A welding robot only adds value if it can hold the torch steady at the end of a long, awkward reach while that happens. This arm was built for that geometry: a long working envelope lets it follow seams deep into a frame or across a wide table without shuffling the workpiece, and a reinforced wrist carries the torch at the angles multi-pass work demands. Torch and wire are routed inside the arm, so spatter and snagging stop driving your downtime, and sealed wrist protection keeps the joints working in a bay full of fume, grit and grinding dust.
- Longer seams from one setup: the extended arm reaches across wide frames and deep box sections, so welding continues instead of stopping for repositioning.
- Fewer repositions, faster arc-on time: fewer index moves between passes means more of the shift is spent under the arc.
- Consistent multi-pass stacking: repeatable torch angle and travel keep cap height and leg length uniform, cutting grinding and rework.
- Stiff wrist under heavy torches: a rigid wrist carries water-cooled torches, collision sensors and seam tracking hardware without deflection.
- Protected against welding abuse: internally routed torch conduit and a sealed wrist survive spatter, fume and grinding dust far better than external dress packages.
- Healthier welding bay: the robot absorbs the heat and fume cycles while operators handle fit-up and inspection only.
- Open fieldbus options: EtherCAT, DeviceNet and PROFINET connect the controller to power sources, positioners, PLCs and safety logic without custom gateways.
- Welding control built in: arc start and end sequencing, touch sensing, arc sensing, weaving and multi-layer weld files run inside the robot controller.
- Positioner and track ready: coordinated external axes let a headstock, turntable or travel track work as part of the same motion program.
- One programming environment: integrators already running FANUC cells reuse the same teach pendant workflow, weld screens and safety routines.
- Offline cell design: ROBOGUIDE allows layout, reach studies and program proving before the robot arrives on site.
- Spares commonality: shared FANUC mechanical and controller parts plus a global service network keep mean time to repair short.
